Subject : Differences between 1.41 and 1.44
The AMTOR Robot no longer transmits ???PK232COM, it just sends
PK232COM in the CQ call. In the Packet mode, the main
differences are the support of the TNC1, the addition of the
automatic NET/ROM path set up, the Conference Mode and the
QTC_Snatch. A quick summary of the changes and/or new features
in this release is given below. READ THE NEW documentation file
in which they are described.
In brief:
1 There are two extra lines in the PK232COM.SYS file. You
MUST insert them in your current PK232COM.SYS file if you
intend to continue to use it with the new version.
2 The Alt Function 2 key sets up the TNC by itself if you
haven't got any batteries in it. You no longer need to use
Conmtrol F1, Alt F2 amd F6 to set it up.
3 PACKET CONFERENCE MODE.
4 QTC_Snatch added.
5 Path determination capability (get other stations 'MH'
list), :QMH: added.
6 Packet mode Alert function added.
7 '/' character added in message header between date and
time,
8 Terminal baud rate now 1200/2400/4800/9600. READ WARNING.
9 Receive buffer expanded from 128 bytes to 1K bytes.
10 Packet mode Target call function added.
11 Outgoing text window color changed to light green (shows up
better on mono CRT used with CGA).
12 Timetag of logged events in PK232COM.RUN now includes
dates.
13 :QSM: for repeat of messages.
UPDATE Differences between 1.41 and 1.44
14 AMTOR Robot/Mail Beacon/Mail headers now without ? marks.
' DE ' shows up in message routing between calls (cf. < in
packet) instead of ?.
15 Digipeat display and logging function (Alternate F key) now
works for TNC2.
16 Alt B key, Direct Baudot/ASCII baud rate settup added.
17 'MH' list shows up in own window and freezes there.
18 (PK232COM 1.44) Automatic NET/ROM path sequence. PK232COM
can be told the full node path for a NET/ROM link, and will
set it up automatically. If the path is saved in the
PK232COM.DIR file, PK232COM will set it up for you and chime
when the connect goes through. Read the documentation
section on the PK232COM.DIR file for more details.
19 The TNC1 is supported as of version PK232COM 1.44.
If there are any other features you would like added to the next
release of PK232COM, why not let me know about them and perhaps
they will be incorporated. In the meantime, enjoy this version.
